HKSS has the honour to be invited as “Subject Expert” to participate in the first Collaboratory in Asia on 16 July 2014. During the Collaboratory, a new methodology was introduced and experimented based on the issue of “Green living in Hong Kong” – a methodology aims at drawing solutions in the participating debates from concerned stakeholders. At the end of a 4 hours session, initiatives on “Green living in Hong Kong” were agreed based on various views from over 40 different participants.

Followed by the Collaboratory, on July 17, was the 50+20 Agenda Renewing Business Education in Asia Conference held at Hotel Icon. Renowned speakers from both the academia and business sectors were invited to share their views on incorporating corporate social responsibility as one of the key objectives in running business in the future. Although the concept of sustainability has been widely covered in the current curriculum from business schools worldwide, challenges of lacking practical skills set and knowledge applicable to real-life working situations were discussed.

The concluding remarks from the conference suggested that changes should be initiated by the Business Schools. Knowledge sharing between scholars and successful businessmen should be implemented in a way to provide practical inspiration to the students, as well as modifying the existing curriculum to better prepare graduates for real-life work situations for sustainable development of man-kind.
HKSS’s belief on utilizing positive thinking to engage people for sustainability is enriched by this conference. With the endorsement of applying Collaboratory in our future event, we believe this pioneer technique could help us mitigate conflicts in Hong Kong as to draw constructive solutions for a better and sustainable future.
