Co-organised by HKSS, two seminars on the topics of NGO Sector in HK and Entrepreneurship in e-Sports were held at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on two consecutive days, 31 Mar and 1 Apr 2015. The seminars attracted over 130 students who majored in Management and Public Sector Management. We are especially grateful to have Dr Lianne Lam, CEO of HKSS and Mr. Derek Cheung, CEO of Hong Kong Esports Limited as our guest speakers to share the start-up experiences of their companies.
During the seminar on NGO Sector in HK, Dr Lianne Lam, our CEO, started off with an introduction of the mission and vision of HKSS - to engage people in positive thinking in the face of problems and challenges in Hong Kong, and to provide practical solutions to contribute to the sustainable development of Hong Kong. Dr. Lam holds a strong belief that the practice of "collaborative governance", which brings public and private stakeholders together in collective forums to engage in consensus-oriented decision making, can help building a sustainable Hong Kong.
At the seminar on Entrepreneurship in e-Sports, Mr. Derek Cheung introduced his electronic sports business- HK Esports, the first and largest e-Sports search engine for games in social media in Asia. Derek has great passion in the e-industry and shared with us his sales and marketing strategies in building strong customer relationships, and how he effectively utilizes social media network to increase his company and the game players' exposure. His entrepreneurial experiences have greatly inspired students who aspire to be an entrepreneur in the I.T. sector.
The two-day seminars provided students an overview of how to start and sustain an NGO in HK, and the I.T. start-ups environment. We hope students can apply the fruitful source of information from the seminars in their future endeavors.
